…Offers Free Ultrasound Scan to First Users
The Bayelsa State Government has bolstered healthcare delivery at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), Okolobiri, with the donation of high-end medical equipment.
Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, presented an ultrasound scan machine and two ventilators to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital on Friday, February 7th, 2025.
He emphasized that the gesture aligns with Governor Douye Diri’s Prosperity Assured Agenda, reaffirming the government’s commitment to quality healthcare for all Bayelsans.
Prof. Brisibe urged residents to take advantage of the new equipment, noting that they no longer need to travel out of state for such medical services.
He announced that the first 10 people to use the ultrasound scan would do so for free and encouraged enrollment in the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme (BHIS) to ensure affordable healthcare access.
The Chief Medical Director NDUTH, Prof. Johnbull Jumbo, expressed gratitude to the governor, his deputy, and the health commissioner for prioritizing the hospital’s development.
He described the ultrasound machine as top-tier, with a battery backup lasting up to five hours. He assured that the equipment would be maximized for patient care, research, and training.
Head of the Radiology Department, Dr. Sambo Biobelete H., expressed gratitude to the Bayelsa State government for the donation, emphasizing that the new equipment was highly needed.
He noted that the existing ventilator had been under significant strain due to high demand, and the addition of two more ventilators and ultra sound scan would greatly enhance critical care services at the hospital.
