OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY ACCREDITATION

On the 7th September 2023, the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital Okolobiri played host to an Accreditation team from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, to carry out assessment of facilities to ascertain possible accreditation for Residency Training for O & G Department. The team was made up of Dr. Ayotunde Oluwole from Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Odidika Umeora from Ebonyi State University, Dr. Johnson Komolafe from Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, and Dr. Lawrence Omo-Aghoja from Delta State University. The Accreditation team was received by the Chief Medical Director Prof. Dimie Ogoina, management team, the head of department O&G, consultants, resident doctors and other staff who accorded the visiting team a warm reception. The team thereafter visited all the relevant departments including Gynae, Theartre, SCBU, Radiology, Clinics amongst others and also inspected all listed equipment; and where necessary, equipment were tested for their functionality. The team also held an interactive session with resident doctors, consultants and management team at the end of the facilities inspection tour. The hospital was optimistic that it had met the requirements because from all indications the team was impressed with what they saw on ground.
