NDUTH OPEN PHARMACY PRODUCTION LABORATORY

The Management of Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri has formally opened a Pharmaceuticals Production Laboratory in fulfillment of its drive to sustain the production of Hand Sanitizers and other Consumables.

In his welcome speech, Pharm. Dr. Austin Onabor, the H.O.D. Pharmacy Department announced that the department has produced over 3,000 Hand Sanitizers from inception with current production volume of 1,157 Bottles. In his response, Prof. Dimie Ogoina, the CMD thanked the H.O.D and Staff of the Pharmacy Department for their devotion and determination to deliver on their mandate to produce W.H.O standard Hand Sanitizers and other Consumables for the use of the Teaching Hospital.

The CMD equally highlighted the financial constraints militating against production for sales. He further thanked staff of the department for their hard work, some of whom are on night shift to meet up production target; especially the use of interns.Prof. Dimie Ogoina therefore informed the gathering of the request for addition manpower from Bayelsa State Government, including Pharmacists.
Declaring the laboratory open, the CMD says the Teaching Hospital consumes over 800 Bottles of Hand sanitizers in a month. He also disclosed Managements willingness to provide incentives for the pharmacy staff which should serve as motivation –“a goodwill appreciation and not necessarily a payment”.
In attendance were Staff of the Pharmacy Department, Management team of Hospital, as well as Staff of the Public Relations Department.
