The Management of Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri has successfully commissioned “NDUTH produced manual dispensers” on Wednesday 6th May, 2020 as part of its COVID-19 preparedness and response initiative in Bayelsa State. Highlighting the importance of hand hygiene as one critical element in containing the spread of coronavirus, the CMD, Prof. Dimie Ogoina said with 5 confirmed cases at the Bayelsa Isolation Centre in NDUTH, Okolobiri; the initiative becomes very imperative.
The initiative came from the CMD, Prof. Dimie Ogoina himself and the design is done by the Biomedical Department of the NDUTH, Okolobiri.

The manual dispensers will either contain hand sanitizers or soap and water. The initiative according to Prof. Ogoina is in relation to the high cost of “Automatic Dispensers” in the market.
While cutting the tape to signal the Commissioning, Prof. Ogoina pronounced the initiative as a very remarkable achievement that will help market the Teaching Hospital to the rest of the world. He further thanked staff of the Biomedical Department for their time, skill and effort in designing the Manual Dispensers.
At this point, the CMD and other Management staff did a practical demonstration of the NDUTH, produced Manual Dispensers. After which the CMD directed that the manual dispensers be distributed immediately to all clinical areas in the hospital, particularly at the Isolation Centre.
